The Best Gear For Dove Season

When dove season rolls around, I always like to take inventory of all the gear and make sure it is ready to go for opening day. When you hunt as much as I do, the equipment can take a beating and I absolutely hate having to replace broken equipment. My hope is that this blog post will help you shop with confidence, knowing you are investing in quality gear. Whether you’re new to the sport or a seasoned hunter, investing in quality dove hunting gear ensures you stay comfortable and ready for action when the birds start flying. Here are my top recommendations for the best dove hunting gear to add to your kit this season.

One of the most important pieces of equipment is the Rogers Toughman Dove Belt. A dove belt keeps your ammo organized and your hands free, so you’re not fumbling when the action heats up. Featuring a tough, lightweight material, in neutral tan and brown colors that blend into all dove hunting environments. The wire closures on the shell pockets are one of my favorite features. The back has a PVC coated game bag that keeps your birds cool and contained. This is a must have item for all dove hunters.

Clothing is the most important category to focus on when gearing up for dove season. The Rogers Elite Chill Hoodie with Bug Protection is one of my favorite picks for warm days in the field. This hoodie is lightweight and breathable, keeping you cool while providing sun protection. The added bonus is its built in insect protection, that repels misquotes and ticks. When you’re comfortable and not swatting bugs, you’ll stay focused and ready to shoot. The face shield and hood elevate this to the next level keeping the bugs and sun off your skin. (This is also amazing for Teal and early season hunts)

Comfort also extends to how long you can sit and stay patient in the field. That’s where the Rogers Tough Hunter 360° Compact Swivel Tripod Chair comes in. This portable chair is easy to carry and extremely comfortable. Its full 360-degree swivel makes tracking doves effortless, so you can stay locked in without constantly shifting your body. It’s one of those dove hunting essentials that may seem small but makes a huge difference in the field. (This chair is also amazing for waterfowl and deer hunting)

Of course, no dove hunt is complete without decoys. Doves are social birds and decoys will attract them to your area. Spinning wing decoys are in my bag every time I go dove hunting. The Lucky Duck Lucky Dove HD Pack is a 2 pack sold at Rogers Sporting Goods that I recommend. Trust me... Get the Lucky Duck spinners... To build on that, the Final Approach Last Pass Morning Dove Decoys come in a six-pack, giving you enough numbers to create a natural-looking spread. They have both field stakes and tree clips making these big bodied decoys extremely versatile. I use both together to create a dove decoy spread: the Lucky Duck pair as focal points with attention grabbing flash, and the Last Pass six-pack for a group setup on the ground feeding or perched on a tree limb. This combination makes your spread look like a flock of feeding and landing doves, dramatically increasing your chances of drawing birds into range.

All of this gear works together to give you the best dove hunting setup possible. The dove belt and hoodie keep you mobile, comfortable, and protected. The swivel tripod chair adds comfort and shooting flexibility, while a mix of realistic dove decoys helps finish birds where you want them to land. Whether you’re hunting over a crop field, a watering hole, or a tree line, these dove hunting essentials give you the tools to stay sharp, comfortable, and effective in the field.

The right setup not only makes the hunt more enjoyable but also gives you the edge you need when the birds start flying.
