Meet your guide

My name is Josh Peck, and I'm the owner of Outdoor Limits and Marketing Director and Fishing Guide for Whiskey Sloughs. I’ve spent most of my professional life working in the hunting and fishing industry, while also running my YouTube business on the side, but in the fall of 2024 I took a leap of faith and decided to walk away from a desk job to pursue my dreams. Fishing has always been my biggest passion, and after I purchased my SeaArk I finally had the right tools to be on the water and grow as an angler. My goal as a guide is to help others experience the thrill of a successful day on the water. Whether you're a seasoned angler or brand new to fishing, I pride myself on providing a hands-on, educational, and enjoyable experience that’s tailored to your goals.

When you book a trip with me, you're not just getting a guide—you’re getting someone who genuinely loves what they do and wants to share it. I provide all the gear, do the legwork to stay on the fish, and work hard to make sure each trip is memorable. From winter crappie to spring walleye and summer white bass & wiper runs, I’ll make sure you’re in the right place at the right time to get hooked up.

THE BOAT

My boat is a SeaArk Protege, built for both performance and comfort on the water. At 20 feet long with a 94-inch beam, it offers exceptional stability and handles rough water with ease. It’s powered by a 200HP Suzuki Four Stroke, getting us across the lake quickly and efficiently—up to 50 mph.

Outfitted with the latest technology, the boat features Lowrance HDS PRO units with forward-facing sonar, down imaging, side imaging, and 2D sonar to help us stay on the fish. With four comfortable swivel chairs, a spacious plan, and an 80-gallon livewell, this rig is perfectly set up for all types of fishing.

Melvern Lake

Osage County, KS

Melvern Lake is a top-tier destination for crappie fishing in northeast Kansas, known for its clear water and strong population of quality fish. The lake is loaded with brush piles, rock piles, and standing timber that hold crappie year-round, making it ideal for vertical jigging, casting, and using forward-facing sonar to target fish with precision. Whether we're fishing shallow cover in the spring or chasing suspended schools in deeper water during the summer, Melvern consistently produces both numbers and size. With its clean water and abundant structure, it’s one of the most reliable and rewarding crappie lakes in the region.

Clinton Lake

Douglas County, KS

Clinton Lake is one of northeast Kansas’ most well-rounded fisheries, offering excellent opportunities for crappie, white bass, wiper, and walleye. White bass + wiper fishing heats up in the summer, with big schools pushing bait to the surface and creating action-packed casting opportunities. Crappie are found year-round on brush piles and submerged structure, making them a reliable target for jigging while using forward-facing sonar. Clinton is also a solid walleye lake, with fish holding on rocky points, drop-offs, and flats—perfect for trolling or jigging techniques. With diverse structure and healthy fish populations, Clinton Lake consistently delivers a fun and productive day on the water.
